1  Fight for research resources

        Through long-term efforts and management, we have established an appropriate research status and reputation in the field of marine science and technology, and the research results are representative and practical. Provide good assistance and support for domestic government units and private enterprises in marine engineering, survey, observation, planning and data collection.The scope of the project implementation of our center covers the waters of Taiwan and outlying islands. The main research work can be divided into marine science and technology research and project planning evaluation.

        From 1997 to 2022, our center has implemented more than 300 entrusted projects. The scope and feild of project execution covers marine science and technology research and engineering planning evaluation in Taiwan and outlying islands.

 

1  Hold international academic activities and seminars

        In order to strengthen the function of academic research and promote the atmosphere of integrated research, our center holds academic activities from time to time.

1  Underwater Search and Surveying Technology Seminar（92.02.14）：

        Our center is entrusted by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to conduct research on issues such as underwater search, measurement technology, and the integration or integration mechanism of underwater search resources, data, and manpower. Provide practical technical discussions on underwater search and rescue, underwater instrument operation and application, underwater terrain measurement, and underwater positioning. This seminar promoted the interaction and exchange opportunities of relevant technical professionals. Also, established a good example of research and discussion at all levels of domestic underwater search and measurement technology.

1 The 5th Underwater Technology Seminar/ National Science and technology Council Results presentation/ Underwater Search and Surveying Technology Seminar（92.04.25）：

        Entrusted by National Science and technology Council’s Technology Promotion Center. This conference provides an opportunity to publish domestic ocean and naval engineering research results. Topics covered: Underwater acoustics/ocean acoustics, underwater communication and signal processing, underwater operating systems, ocean engineering and applications. The underwater technology seminar plays an extremely important role in the promotion of national underwater technology capabilities. They are also an important indicator of domestic underwater technology research results.

1  “Dongsha Islands and Nansha Islands Sea Area Environmental Ecological Conservation and Marine Archeology” International Seminar（93.10.15）：

        It is co-organized by National Sun Yat-sen University Academy of Marine Sciences, Ocean Research Institute, Port of Kaohsiung, Kaohsiung City Government, National Cheng Kung University and National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Environment and Engineering Technology Research Center. In addition to inviting domestic experts and scholars to participate in the seminar. This seminar also invited Dr. Timothy Kane, a professor at Texas A&M University and Mr. Brendan Foley, a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who have practical experience in underwater archaeology and shipwreck salvage, jointly went to the Dongsha Islands and Nansha Islands for field investigation. Combining the experience and practice of experts and scholars at home and abroad, we will do our best for the ecological conservation of the South China Sea.

1  Taiwan Offshore Industry Development Seminar（93.10.05）：

        It is co-organized by National Sun Yat-sen University Academy of Marine Sciences, Ocean Research Institute, Transportation Research Institute of the Ministry of Communications, Republic of China Society of Ocean and Underwater Technology and National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Environment and Engineering Technology Research Center. Discussions will be held on topics such as sea environment and ecology, sea space utilization and disaster prevention, near-shore sea resource development, sea transportation and aviation safety, education and culture, sea resource monitoring and investigation, coastal management, and industry guidance. Through the brainstorming of industry, government and academia, it echoes the government's spirit of "building a country by ocean" and provides an important reference for the government to formulate policies.

1  The 2nd International Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection and “Dongsha Islands and Nansha Islands Sea Area Environmental Ecological Conservation and Marine Archeology” International Seminar（93.11.08）：

        It is co-organized by National Sun Yat-sen University Academy of Marine Sciences, Ocean Research Institute, Oceanic Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government, National Cheng Kung University and National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Environment and Engineering Technology Research Center. Invite domestic and foreign experts and scholars to discuss issues related to marine archaeology and underwater heritage protection in various countries, including Dongsha Islands, Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia underwater shipwrecks, and regional cooperation in the protection of underwater cultural heritage in Asia, etc. After the seminar, specific short, medium, and long-term goals were also made, hoping to contribute to the protection of the world's underwater heritage.

1  The 35th Taiwan society of Ocean Engineering Seminar（102.11.21-22）：

        Co-organized by Taiwan society of Ocean Engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Science and Technology Center, National Sun Yat-sen University Department of Marine Environment and Engineering, etc. The Ocean Engineering Conference is a gathering of domestic and foreign scholars, experts and engineers of water conservancy, coast, harbor, ocean and related engineering to present the latest research results and engineering technologies. The conference also discussed Taiwan’s port and coastal development and marine industry technology and future prospects.

1  Taiwan Marine Industry Seminar（104.01.29）：

        It is co-organized by Taiwan Ocean Academia-Industry Consortium, the Ocean Engineering Conference, Taiwan Public Issue Research Association, Tainan Hydraulics Laboratory, National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Science and Technology Center and Taiwan Educational Research Association. Invite domestic experts from the industry, academia and government to discuss the future development and direction of the marine industry, hoping to develop new industries and new energy sources.

1  Taiwan Marine Industry Seminar II（104.07.30）：

        It is co-organized by Taiwan Ocean Academia-Industry Consortium, the Ocean Engineering Conference, Taiwan Public Issue Research Association, NCKU Research and Development Foundation, National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Science and Technology Center and Taiwan Educational Research Association, Ocean Taiwan Culture and Education Foundation, Taiwan Environment Scientific Co.,Ltd, Kaohsiung Maritime Engineering Business Association, Kaohsiung Bian-friend Association. Invite domestic experts from the industry, academia and government to discuss the future development and direction of the marine industry, hoping to develop new industries and new energy sources.

1  Forum on How to Create a Win-Win Situation of Coastal Green Energy Development and Sea Environment and Ecology（110.05.13）：

        Co-organized by National Sun Yat-sen University School of Marine Science, National Sun Yat-sen University Marine Technology Research Center, GUO RUI Green Energy Co., Ltd., Key Application Technology Co., Ltd., Dr. Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. Scholars and experts from the domestic industry, academia and government circles are invited to discuss the future development and direction of coastal green energy development and sea environment ecology, hoping to develop new industries and new energy sources.
