Sun Yat-sen University established the Marine Science and Technology Center (MSTC) in 1986. Dr. Kun-Hsiung Chang served as the director of the center. Through the efforts of the previous directors, Professor Chung-Pan Lee took over in August 2002, and Professor Shiahn-Wern Shyue took over in August 2017. It has reached a certain scale nowadays.
